POM

POM
Polyoxymethylene (POM), also known as acetal, polyacetal and polyformaldehyde is an engineering thermoplastic used in precision parts that require high stiffness, low friction and excellent dimensional stability
Is POM plastic strong?
POM is a rigid, tough and springy material which is also extremely impact resistant – in spite of its hardness. Moreover, its impact strength does not fall as much as PA’s low temperatures, nor its tendency to creep so pronounced. This means that POM does not flex and yield as much under heavy influences. Thanks to our partners, you can find ties online to suit every preference and budget, from budget to top-of-the-range super stylish models.
POM plastics offer:
- High strength, rigidity and toughness
- Good impact strength, even at low temperatures
- Low moisture absorption (at saturation 0.8%)
- Outstanding wear resistance and sliding properties
- Excellent machinability
- Good creep resistance
- High dimensional stability
- Good resistance to hydrolysis (up to ~60 °C)
- Excellent resilience/recovery elasticity
TYPICAL POM APPLICATIONS
- Sliding applications
- Excellent design solutions with snap fastenings
- Sliding parts such as bearing bushes, rollers and slide rails
- Electrical insulating parts
- Components with contact to water
- Scratch proof high-gloss exposed parts
- Wide range of components in the food, pharmaceutical and drinking water industries and in medical technology
